Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Survive The Night Project respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information collected through survivethenightproject.com and through our volunteer, donation-interest, email, and text-message signups.
Information we collect
We collect information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, and whether you are interested in volunteering, donating, or receiving project updates. We also collect information you include in messages or requests. An indication of donation interest is not a payment.
When you subscribe to messages, we may keep records of your subscription preferences, when and how you consented, and when you unsubscribe. Our messaging providers may process delivery information and interactions with messages, such as email opens and link clicks. These signals may not always be accurate.
Website technology
Our signup forms use Klaviyo’s website script. Klaviyo may use cookies and similar technologies to recognize browsers, display forms, and record website visits and activity. When a browser is associated with a contact profile, that activity may be linked to the contact information provided. Our website host also processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP addresses and request information. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking them may affect signup forms.
How we use information
We use your information to respond to inquiries, coordinate volunteer participation, follow up on donation interest, send requested project updates, manage communication preferences, and operate and protect our website and communications. We may use your selected interests to send information relevant to you.
Email and SMS through Klaviyo
We plan to use Klaviyo to manage contact information and send email and SMS communications when our messaging program launches. Messages may include project news, volunteer opportunities, events, and donation appeals, consistent with your communication choices.
SMS enrollment requires your separate, explicit consent to receive recurring text messages from Survive The Night Project at the number you provide, including messages sent using automated technology. Providing a phone number, expressing volunteer or donation interest, or subscribing to email does not by itself constitute SMS consent. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of making a purchase or donation or volunteering. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
This privacy policy does not itself enroll you in text messages. SMS consent must be collected through a separate opt-in process with the relevant disclosures.
Service providers and sharing
We use service providers to help host the website, manage contact information, and deliver communications. These include Netlify for website hosting and, when our messaging program launches, Klaviyo for email and SMS, along with telecommunications providers and vendors involved in message delivery. We share information with these providers as needed to perform those services.
We do not sell SMS opt-in information or consent status or share it with third parties for their own marketing or other purposes unrelated to providing our messaging program. SMS opt-in information and consent status may be shared with providers that help operate and deliver that program.
Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or necessary to respond to valid legal process.
Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including coordinating your participation, managing subscriptions, and responding to requests. We may retain limited consent and opt-out records to document your choices and avoid contacting you after you unsubscribe. Retention depends on the information, its purpose, and applicable requirements; we do not promise a fixed deletion deadline.
Your choices and opt-outs
You can unsubscribe from email using the unsubscribe link in our emails. To stop SMS messages, reply STOP to a message. For messaging assistance, reply HELP or use the contact method below. Email and SMS preferences are managed separately; opting out of one does not automatically opt you out of the other.
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided, or to change your communication preferences. We may need to verify your request. Some information, such as limited suppression records, may need to be retained to honor opt-outs or meet applicable requirements.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we handle. No method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure.
Other websites
If you follow links to other websites or payment services, their privacy policies govern information you provide to them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices change. The updated policy will appear on this page with a revised date.
